The client is a consortium of over 180 limousine operators in Qatar, collectively managing more than 10,000 taxis. Facing high commission fees and operational challenges with multinational ride-hailing services, they aimed to develop their own taxi booking platform. Their goal was to offer an affordable, fair, and efficient alternative for both drivers and passengers, ensuring competitive fares while maximizing driver earnings.
Unthinkable collaborated with the consortium to design and develop a scalable ride-hailing app. A cloud-based microservices architecture using AWS and Kubernetes ensured high availability and cost efficiency. The app featured real-time ride tracking, automated fare calculation, and demand-based pricing, optimizing both driver and passenger experiences.
The consortium successfully launched its ride-hailing platform, receiving strong adoption from both drivers and passengers. Within months, the app facilitated thousands of daily rides, improving profitability for drivers while offering fair pricing for riders. By leveraging AWS EKS and microservices, the system achieved 40% lower operational costs and 77% reduction in development efforts. The self-healing infrastructure minimized downtime, ensuring smooth service even during peak hours.
With full control over pricing, driver commissions, and service quality, the consortium is now well-positioned to compete with global ride-hailing giants. Future plans include expanding services to corporate fleets, airport transfers, and intercity travel, further solidifying their presence in Qatar’s transportation ecosystem.
